Useful details before you compress
Will the compressed image always meet my target size?
Only if the browser can meet the limit while keeping safe dimensions. If it cannot, the tool shows an error instead of offering a file that exceeds your target.
Does image compression reduce quality?
JPG and WebP compression can trade some detail for a smaller file. The tool first adjusts compression quality, then reduces dimensions only when necessary to meet the size target.
What happens to transparent PNG or WebP images?
PNG and WebP can keep transparent areas. If you explicitly choose JPG, which has no transparency, the tool fills transparent areas with white rather than changing formats without telling you.
Does the image leave my device?
No. Your browser reads, compresses, previews, and exports the image locally. REMOVEMYEXIF does not receive the file.
